Good luck kicking out the headlights from the trunk. That's quite a stretch.

FYI, the 'keys between the fingers' thing doesn't really work and will probably injure yourself more than anyone you hit with it. Keeping a pepper spray canister on your keyring would be much better.

I tried this piece of advice, but my dad said you have the arm length of a tyrannosaurus, but the legs of a giraffe. Use your legs - I have run from a number of dangerous situations, its the only thing that saved me.

I hate that I have had to teach my daughters this information

If they put you in the trunk and you manage to kick out the headlights from back there... Why did you let them put you in the trunk in the first place.

I would 100% react to "help!", but I would also react to "fire!", so whatever works, I guess. (Just fire would be a bit confusing at first.)

Hell, it seems like most people would react to a wordless scream.

idk there are schools and a kindergarten near my home and let me tell you, those kids scream while playing. just a few days ago, I heard a super loud scream and it turns out they played soccer, someone scored and they mimicked men cheering after goals, but so much louder. it was almost satirical. my point is: ppl living near/with kids get used to random screams.

"Fire!" : not in a cinema, etc.

For those places, instead you scream "Pervert!" or "Pedophile!", your choice. ☝🏼

American women and minorities have been the largest new gun buying demographic for years now. Someone got the memo.

Peeing on yourself is the easier route, I don't know anyone that can puke on command.

It’s not immediate, but I can puke on command within about two minutes.

Just swallow a bunch of air and really aggressively try to force a burp before you’re ready

I can too, I just have to wind myself up over all the shit I need to get done. Dry heaves and into mass projectile vomiting.

Its a useful skill when you want to get out of work early and maybe get a few days off.

But never tried the swallowing air, I'll give that a try next time. Might make for a more energetic vomiting experience.

Can a trunk be kicked open from inside?

Trunks in modern cars are required to have a release inside. They may not be easy to find in the dark.

The kicking out the lights advice I believed is aimed at disabling the lights to encourage a police officer to stop the vehicle for broken lights. Not to enable an escape.

They could also be tampered with if the offender is planning a crime. So they may not work or may not even be visible.
