Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu flew over Greece, Italy, France and Canada on Thursday on his way to address the UN, despite an International Criminal Court warrant for his arrest.

The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in November 2024, on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed in Gaza since October 2023.

Netanyahu arrived in the US for a short visit to address the UN General Assembly in New York, where Mayor Zohran Mamdani has said he does not have the authority to arrest the Israeli leader.

Planes demand access to airspace before entering it. Open a search engine if you want to find out more.

    So arrogant

I'm well aware of that, but what do you actually expect to happen when that gets ignored? Threaten a plane carrying the leader of a nuclear power? That'll go well.

I'd also love to see him in handcuffs but escalation is obviously unproductive when he can't be safely arrested and planes requesting permission is only a courtesy when there are no consequences to defiance.

Do you really think Israel would nuke France if they grounded his plane?

I don't think they'd immediately press the red button, but they clearly have a capacity to escalate and have shown in the middle east that they're quite trigger happy

Israel would literally cease to exist if it got in a war with France. Israel isn't going to war with fucking NATO

France shooting down Netanyahu would be the end of NATO immediately. There would be no war with NATO because NATO wouldn’t exist anymore.

A European nation assassinating Netanyahu would immediately plunge the entire Middle East into massive war, destroy the global market, and likely draw the US into war in Europe.

Not sure what else you would call killing the prime minister of a nation that you’re not at war with.

Legally enforcing your airspace is not an assassination and you know it, stop being deliberately obtuse.

Shooting down a civilian aircraft with a work leader on it would absolutely be an assassination.

Yes it absolutely would lmao. No European country is at war with Israel. Every European country recognizes Israel as a sovereign nation.

It would be an assassination and an act of war.

Every European country recognizes Israel as a sovereign nation.

I'm genuinely curious what you think the relevance of this is.

Given that you're so stupid you think a country enforcing their air space is both assassination and an act of war, I'm assuming your answer is going to be more nonsense though

What’s the relevance of one nation killing the leader of another nation that they internationally recognize as a sovereign nation?

Shooting down an aircraft is far beyond standard airspace enforcement. Standard airspace enforcement would be to send fighter jets to escort the violating aircraft out of the airspace without conflict.

Shooting down an aircraft would absolutely be an act of war.

Which you've already said they can't do because the plane could just ignore them. What do you think is the next step when a violating plane ignores the fighters?

You think the population of the US would want to go to war with France over the leader of a genocidal pariah state being downed legally?

What's the support for the war with Iran again?

And just like your second example, public support wouldn’t matter in the slightest. We’re literally at war with Iran right now with basically nobody supporting it.

But France would have no allies even in Europe if they assassinated a Western leader like Netanyahu. They’d be a global pariah for plunging the world into a depression that would make the Great Depression look like child’s play.

I dunno if you've been paying attention, but that's already happening because America is doing what Israel wants. If anyone stepped up to stop America or Israel in the slightest, we would avoid catastrophic depression.

How did we go from the mandated air denial by international law to shooting down an aircraft?

What’s your proposed response when said aircraft doesn’t follow your air denial and enters your airspace anyway?

There’s only two options. You either send fighters up and follow them until they leave, or you enforce said denial and shoot the aircraft down.

I’d also love to see him in handcuffs

But you've already decided that no country should be expected to actually arrest him

    he can’t be safely arrested

What does "safely arrested" fucking mean? You've already declared that no country can use force against him, so he can just say "no" if any country tried to arrest him. He could literally hike through these countries and, according to you, there's nothing they can do about it.

I literally never said either of those things and don't agree with them either. But whatever, I'm not gonna continue to argue if you're just going to make shit up.
