How dare this man try steal my story and use it for money making.

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 2 points 48 minutes ago

He must have a HUGE truck

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 34 minutes ago

Michael Phillips said online on Thursday that he needed the procedure to improve his ability to urinate, which is difficult for him given that he is reportedly 0.38in (0.97cm) long when fully erect. Otherwise, he said he must continue to wear diapers for adults with incontinence every day.

This is a compelling reason. Let's help the guy out. Donated.

It's disgusting that Hasan the millionaire isn't just using his own money for this.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

I think he should bring this before congress so they can add it to the list of medicare disabilities.

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Wow under an inch? That sucks.

[–] Saffire@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 minutes ago

step one: Isolate the gene for penis length.

Step two: discern if the gene needs to be copied or trimmed to cause enlargement

step three: using CRISPR gene editing, formulate the necessary edits and then bioengineer a retrovirus delivery method.

step four: make sure that the panel for FDA approval is all men and/or trans men (hey, if we're gonna do this there are legit G.A.C. uses!)

step five: Build a Money Bin like freakin' Scrooge McDuck to handle all the money that you're about to get.

Step six: Patent the hell out that shit.

Step seven: Profit, my bitches!!

[–] heartSagan5@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

But what if it doesn’t stop growing and you get Elephantitis penis?

[–] T156@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

step one: Isolate the gene for penis length.

That does assumes that there is a dedicated gene, and that the gene is singular.

It's hardly impossible for it to be governed by multiple genes, like height is.

step three: using CRISPR gene editing, formulate the necessary edits and then bioengineer a retrovirus delivery method.

Only if it's something that can be altered later. Gene editing is not magic that can instantly transform someone if something gets flipped.

It's entirely plausible that the genes responsible might only be active at certain points in time, and after that, altering it makes the cells have different genes, but they won't do much with it.

Similar to how altering the gene responsible for how many fingers you have doesn't cause you to lose or sprout new fingers.

[–] TheStaffmaster@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Quit being a negative Nancy. Also, you need to understand that your body basically rebuilds itself every 7-8 years, so the changes wouldn't be instant by any means, just like HRT takes a few years to really kick in.

Joking aside, what a rotten bit of genetic luck with which to get saddled. Best of luck, guy.

Wait....penis enlargement surgery EXISTS??? Why don't all men know about this??? Hang on guys, I'm going to find out what the largest penis in history has been.....and then I'm getting TRIPLE that size!!!

[–] ramble81@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 hours ago

The surgery went a success but as a complication you can no longer get a boner.

[–] aarch0x40@piefed.social 8 points 3 hours ago

The real question is, why isn't this covered by Medicaid?!

[–] ipkpjersi@lemmy.ml 13 points 4 hours ago

It's my understanding that it's more of a last case scenario kind of thing, like, most guys don't want to have surgery on their penis and it can also have complications too.

[–] Tujio@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago

Rumor is that's what happened to Elon's dick. Botched enlargement surgery.

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 hours ago

It exists, but the complications are prohibitive for someone that isn't hit with disability level malformation. Plus, there's a limit to what it can do

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 hours ago

There is a ligament that can be relocated to make a flaccid penis appear larger, but there is no enlargement surgery.

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 10 points 5 hours ago

I would say it's probably not worth it just because you will most likely have sensory loss and erectile dysfunction which for most would be worse than the problem its self. Theres more risks as well, but those alone sound like a nope from me.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 3 points 4 hours ago

/uj some of us are happy with what we got. Also there is a things as too big. I don't want to hurt my partner.

/rj you sure you want 3 Steven Millers on your crotch?

I kinda feel for the guy. That’s a really unfortunate situation. He says it’s the size of a pinky finger nail. It’s gotta be hard for him to go to the bathroom, which he says is why he wants it enlarged.

[–] brave_lemmywinks@lemmy.world 28 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Damn this is almost a transitioning operation. Give him a big hog now.

[–] MrEff@lemmy.world 64 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

This is actually a great example of how the majority of 'gender affirming care' is actually for a person who is already assigned at birth the gender they are affirming.

This male, who was assigned male at birth, is seeking gender affirming care to become... more male.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 8 points 6 hours ago (3 children)

He doesn't need anyone to "affirm" shit, he wants to be able to take a piss.

[–] MrEff@lemmy.world 25 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

And women who get breast implants after receiving a double mastectomy are simply restoring their body back to what it was, neither affirming or changing but rather 'restoring' the appearance. The category of operations received is still called gender affirming.

Anything that is manipulating the body more in line with the perceived gender is called gender affirming care.

And it doesn't even need to be surgeries. Men with low T receiving testosterone shots is a form of gender affirming care.

And yes, I read the article.

I commend him for publicly talking about it. I also commend him on his ability to admit his poor behavior. I genuinely hope he gets what he wants from this experience.

[–] culprit@lemmy.ml 13 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (2 children)

Does this qualify as gender-affirming healthcare?

[–] toddestan@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Maybe? The article says he has trouble urinating and has to wear diapers. One of the goals of the surgery is so he can urinate properly and presumably not have wear diapers any longer. So I can sympathize with him. On the other hand, it doesn't appear that the surgery is strictly medically necessary either.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 hours ago

Almost certainly. Gender affirming care also includes things like breast reduction for men, and anything else that is done to make someone appear more like the stereotypical form of a given gender. It doesn't matter if you're assigned that gender at birth either.

[–] woelkchen@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago

In non-shithole countries this procedure would be covered by insurance because of the severity of his case.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 17 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Is that what we’re calling the SpaceX IPO now?

Should we pay a man who sends unsolicited dick pics to get a larger dick? Hmmm.
