President of Serbia officially signed his resignation a minute or two ago. I hope a Communist org/s can get a foothold in the state. I don't doubt he won't try to get right back into government (as PM instead of president), so if the people wan't their actions to last, just axting through the present mechanisms won't get them anything. They have their own candidates, but I have no idea as to what they'll do.

As a Yankee, it messes with my head a bit, the thing of connecting with people over overlap of pop culture interests. Like having played the same video game and liked it, or liked the same books or movies. The fact of it alone is not what weirds me out. It's the extent to which that seems to be a primary way of connecting, if that makes sense. Like there is not that much to bond over because so many things that are more serious, people are so divided on? So the fandoms sort of become a stand-in.
I just can't unsee it in the context of that Iran quote about Qasem Soleimani. The more liberated parts of the world, who have had to battle for sovereignty, have real heroes to look up to. The west has Spongebob Squarepants. It seems rather pathetic to me. It's like escapism became a mainstream cultural crutch rather than a fringe coping mechanism.
Living in the US and having any trust of institutions at all feels like Lucy and Charlie Brown with the football on repeat forever. I mean, it's not that they're all 100% malicious or something. If it was that straightforward, there'd have been several revolutions by now. There's actually this consistent trap to it, where you can get taken in by how nice and sincere the everyday employees are, or think the general policies will protect your interests, and miss the exploitative financial tendrils of the institution (or industry) as a whole; the process seems designed so that by the time you notice a problem, it's either too late to fix it or you are more likely to blame yourself for not catching it. If I didn't have dialectical materialism / class analysis / etc. to ground me, I'd probably become vaguely anti-institution/anti-establishment over time.
And "it's your fault" works hand in hand with "liberty" narratives; personal choice, it's your decision, it's up to you. They love to promote this kind of stuff because not only does it legitimize the idea that the US is "free", it also means that if something goes wrong, it must be because you decided wrong, not that the institutions failed you (or worse, intentionally exploited you).
Green Don Theory: (the successor to JDPON Don)
Donald Trump is fighting Climate Change by destroying the oil industry. Strangling supply until demand comes down and then reinvesting all the millions of dollars he scammed out of the stock market into a monopoly on green energy. His trade war on China is to block his american competitors from obtaining rare earths and solar panels from China while he makes back room deals with Xi to obtain a monopoly on those same things for his green energy empire. He is tricking all the big tech bros into investing in the AI bubble so they don't move to green energy themselves and when they go belly up he is going to snap up all their infrastructure and turn it into his manufacturing base.
It's wierd to think that FDR was literally inches from dying right at the start of his presidency due to an assassination attempt which would've let John Nance Garner [basically a dixiecrat who wasn't super pro-new deal] become president. I really wonder what would've happened if that occurred.

i will never get used to stop signs and red lights being mere suggestions in California
The state I live in has a drug problem. We mainly manufacture nearly every XTC pill for the entire continent. Think Breaking Bad but with molly.
Sadly that's the only thing we get referenced for in cultural stuff. Every serie that gets produced that takes place over here has drugs as a theme. On top of that they also portray us as stupid hillbillies. We have our own distinct dialect which they can't be bothered to either learn or hire, you know, locals. So you get butchered accents with overly caricaturized versions of us. And the serie will always contain carnaval. Because all we do here is make molly, be stupid and drink beer at carnaval.
Being an adult and going to trade school while having ten years of experience of full time work hits different. Today they said that there will be a parent-teacher evening next week 😭 I said I'm not doing that and they asked me if it was my own decision or my parents' lmao
I still haven't found an org to join here. The only options are some small commie orgs in a nearby city or the regular Socialist Party but they are socdems at best.
DPRK to the semifinals! They won against Canada in FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup!

Have a great week, everyone! Consistency builds results, whether it's in organizing or study, any goal that's long-term depends most on your ability to do a little regularly, instead of a lot every once in a while. Pace yourself!
As always, communism will win.
Fans of the DPRK in the stadium!

we are popular
"Leftists" looking to their left: Those MLs over there are far left!
Me, an ML, looking to my left: Fuckin' ultras.
Also, hostile is a funny label. It sounds like the kind of label somebody would come up with from coming in with reactionary takes and expecting "let's all just get along" liberal accommodation. Personally, with few exceptions I have to actively try to be hostile, against my still-existing liberal instincts to be accommodating and "go along to get along."
we also aren't that hostile??? they probably tried to join here and got corrected for overly confident posting about tinyman square/oo-grr genocide-type shit and was downvoted and corrected on it and got scared/hurt feelings and ran away lol.
Being out of your depth is fine as long as you have humility enough to like, learn and adapt... turns out tons of "leftists" in the anglosphere just want free shit from the government and to gossip and meme about Elon Musk and the Trump white house all day and not like... learn and strategize how to defeat them.
are you kidding me? have you even seen poop on pig balls before? i mean, my word!! it's just uncalled for. so rude! i never! and what's with the hate on brunch, i must say!
I've seen the drivel they post on those "Reddit" instances, and by the heavens, I want to avoid all of the psychic damage that comes with it like the plague.
Some dude I work with spends his breaks scrolling through conspiracy shit on his phone. Today's highlight was about the shooting of a dude named Charles Kirkland in the movie Snake Eyes. He was shot in the neck during a boxing match in which one of the dudes inside the ring was called Tyler.
This of course was linked to the Charlie Kirk shooting. Although the dude in the vid was saying the Kirk shooter was a left wing woke dude, which is weird.
I hope you all have a nice week :D
Christian liberalism teaches people the important truth, that when you fail at something and are forced to stop, that's actually a good thing because now you can't be judged for doing the thing on an ongoing basis. Doing things will make you impure and risk losing heaven, so it's best to just do nothing as much as possible. As your reward, in the afterlife, you get to happily do nothing forever in heaven; if you were to do things in heaven, that might ruin your mood and mess with eternal happiness, so it's best to just do nothing as much as possible.
Just in case I didn't layer it on thick enough: I do not actually believe this. Tis a joke. Though I do believe that Christian thought in the west acts something like this some of the time.
Ironically both:
James 1:22: "Be doers of the word, and not hearers only. Otherwise, you are deceiving yourselves."
James 2:17–18: Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
Exist as passages in the bible.
During the cold war we at least got a cool space race. The AI race is kinda boring and dumb.
Some fans that went to cheer the DPRK during the match against Colombia!

I wish that I was there enjoying the game as well. 😭
I'm glad I got my teens and early twenties in between the 2008 crisis and covid because I feel like I got to experience at least some periode of relative peace to be young. Social media wasn't the big evil it is now for a long time. Partying was still affordable. You had the feeling of some sort of future in which you could own a house and have a stable job. When I went out years ago my go to pub had this deal of four craft beer for 12 euro. They had a cigarette machine where I could buy a pack of smokes for like 4 or 5 euro. For twenty euros I had the greatest time ever there.
The same would now cost at least 30 euro's, possibly 40. No wonder every bar in town is empty.
I like to joke that pre-covid was BC times (Before Covid), like BC and AD, because it feels like so long ago, like a crossover into a different type of world. It put the geriatric in late stage capitalism; which is a silly way of saying that it feels like it sped up the decline/decay. Hard for people to buy into capitalism if the usual concept of a "normal life" is going extinct before their eyes, leaving them with no hope for a stable future.
People who hate socialism clearly have never played Factorio nor modded Minecraft.
Started listening to the Blowback podcast, currently on season 3 which is Korea and really enjoying it. North Korea is good!
So the US just annexes greenland and the EU is celebrating?
From Italy
From Brazil, this is from the CR Flamengo

It's so wierd playing bg3 and having to relearn certain things that were true in bg1/2
I.e, lighting bolt doesn't bounce around and try to kill friendly team members anymore. Or web is now kinda mid.
Stats are another but they're kinda similar, just focussed on saves as well as modifiers.
Spell casting time isn't a thing anymore. [This one was a fairly easy one to relearn since they transitioned to turn based but it's still wierd to me to have to worry about concentration. I'm used to having to stack 10+ buffs before a fight, all of which probably require concentration now]
My thermo-fluids prof. is a nice lady, but her environmental doomerism gets under my skin. Just because around 80% of the electricity produced from the fossil fuel, it doesn't it can't be replaced.
I had an excellent, very sweet organic chemistry professor but he was an hardcore coal defender and utterly convinced we will retvrn to coal as a primary fuel source.
