Things are not looking good in Brazil.

do brazilian elections have the same bias as US elections, where votes for "right" candidates are generally counted and reported before votes for "left" candidates?

According to some rumors that I have read in a Telegram channel, it seems so.

    This is the latest count

with this trend, is it likely that brazil will go to runoff elections?

If Flavio's count doesn't go beyond 50%, then it seems highly likely that a runoff election will happen.

am i right in thinking that flavio is likely to win the runoff? it seems as though the majority of the third-party votes are for far-right candidates

It is difficult for me to make an educated guess because I don't have as much insight as a Brazilian comrade.

Hopefully, someone with better insight might come along and give you their perspective.

in that case, can i ask about the zapatistas? specifically, have they been an effective anti-imperialist force or are they going to end up like rojava?

From my personal point of view, they are similar to rojava without the US support(context -> https://lemmygrad.ml/post/6488415). They do make statements supporting Cuba but they sometimes invite USAID funded liberals that have voiced views against Nicaragua and Venezuela. Regardless of their views, they serve as a force that stops internal plunder within Chiapas.

Any Utahns here? I wish we had an actual leftist newspaper here, Salt Lake Tribune is the best of all the ones I've looked at, but then they publish articles like this and this.

I have mixed feelings about romance. Sometimes I'll sort of forget about it like it doesn't even matter. Sometimes I'll really yearn for it hard like it's a huge deal. But I don't know how much of the 2nd one is cultural influence of putting romance on this huge pedestal as like the best thing since gluten-free sliced bread. Like a good partnership would probably help me a lot, but it's also not going to solve my problems on its own and a bad one could make them worse. I think the more important thing, probably, is to unfuck my brain with regards to attachment more generally. I tend to have that thing going on, I forget the exact term, where you seek attention and then want to run when you actually get it. Fearful... anxious... something or other. I could just look it up. Anyway, I have come a long way in emotional stability and self esteem I think, but it could still be a lot better and unfucking attachment is probably a significant part of that so that attachment is a source of security and stability instead of a combination of desiring it and fearing it. My gut tells me I'd actually have a pretty easy time having long-term relationships, platonic or otherwise, if I didn't have the fear/avoid thing in the mix, along with general insecurity about my capability to maintain relationships over time and distance due to my distractability and sudden dropoffs of interest; but then, judging relationship maintaining with distance as a factor is pretty unfair, as most human beings throughout history did not have the internet and such, they could just know the people who were right there and not have to think about it beyond that. My gut also tells me I need to eat healthier and that holding onto anxiety is bad for its digestion. It's not even speaking in english. I don't know what language the gut uses. Communicates through "this feels good" and "that feels bad" I guess.

It's genuinely crazy that Chiang Kai-shek/Jiang Jeshi was about 5 minutes from getting deposed only to be saved by the Japanese invading Manchuria.

    Context:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mukden_Incident

Not saying Wang Jingwei would've been...good or better [its wang Jingwei]. But it certainly would have been interesting.

Plus its massively ironic and funny Chiang was saved because he had to "fight" the Japanese.

I got metal shrapnel in my eye today and it had to be drilled out by a doctor. Sounds horrific but at my job it was a badge of honor so in a dumb ass way I was looking forward to it too. I swear these people are just build different.

Still no luck in joining a political org. I feel like it would be a bit of a waste to join a Trot or Ortho leaning org that operates as a niche. On the other hand it might be the most serious option. Maybe I should just start with the union.

I also shoot my shot with someone way out of my league and it somehow worked and now I have to think about when I will drop that I also have dozens of Star Wars extended universe books.

I used to be pro-death penalty but I've come around on it. The state shouldn't have the ability to kill you, especially if they can't guarantee that you're superhuman and can survive a lethal injection. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/ahead-rare-execution-lone-woman-tennessee-death-row-says-peace-rcna600279

It'd just be mindless cruelty to do anything more.

Lethal injection is creepy cause it tries to sanitize execution as something less grisly than what it is, so that people can sit back and pretend like it's "clean" and "painless", and wash their hands of it, when it's neither clean, nor painless, nor even guaranteed to work.

I do think there are contexts where execution has its place, like in revolutionary war for gaining and then maintaining power where you're up against people who will literally kill you if you don't, who have committed immense war crimes and are a danger to have around, but pretending like it's not a brutal struggle and thinking you can wield it as some kind of sanitized tool of justice is twisted. And even then, it's not automatically necessary, like in the story of the CPC reeducating the "last emperor of China" after they had power.

But US "justice" is a joke and it has, last I remember checking, the highest incarceration rate in the world. Racist, sexist, settler trash system cosplaying as "democracy".
