You do have a point, when I said it's necessary I meant from my situation where cis passing is extremely important due to risk of violence and my fear of violence, my dysphoria is a huge part but fear of being beaten for not passing is also very big. It's happened before my picrew doesn't have an eyepatch for style, I was attacked for being trans and it left me permanently blind in my left eye, and I wear an eyepatch to cover up my non-functional left eye. I know that the pressure to cis pass isn't healthy and that in an ideal world it would only be about alleviating my dysphoria. It really sucks that I have to be afraid to speak in public because someone could clock me and get violent. I don't mean to put people in difficult situations I was just scared and wanted to know in the moment if my voice sounded alright or if I was at risk of being clocked.

I know that VFS isn't a magic bullet and I do know that training is still worthwhile, it has had an effect, it just isn't enough on its own to make me sound not masculine. Which is why I've said I need it in order to be able to pass.

knowing the person is enough to change your perception of their voice

Maybe but honestly that's not good enough, it's paramount that I pass without being clocked, sounding fem to people I know and who like me is nice but it's not enough. It won't prevent me from ending up dead in an alley because some Neonazi heard me talking and instantly clocked me.

I don't have the luxury of being openly trans and visibly queer, not without getting hurt, possibly killed.

K have fun with your AI brain rot.

I think these people were already crazy if they're willing to let a machine shovel garbage into their mouths blindly. Fucking mindless zombies eating up whatever is big and trendy.

Those bootlickers will believe anything, I bet you could convince them water was dangerous if you made them think the DEA said it.

That's reasonable, but not everyone has gender dysphoria. There are some people who are comfortable as they are but would be blissfully happy and euphoric as the opposite gender, without even knowing it.

It doesn't make someone trans, but it is a strong sign they likely are trans...

Don't quote that gatekeeping garbage to me, I'm not pushing or coercing anyone of being trans. No trans person does that. That's TERF garbage meant to try and villify trans people for existing or being supportive of other trans and questioning people.

Don't worry sister, it gets easier eventually 🫂 🏳️‍⚧️

No, there is a big difference between trying to help someone discover themselves and denying a person's gender identity. To argue that they are the same is Transphobic TERF garbage meant to spread the idea that being trans is wrong or abnormal.

You are right to acknowledge that this will never be productive. Arguing with TERFs rarely is.

I've only been on Lemmy a few days and I've already witnessed a lot of thinly veiled transphobia, anything from people dismissing the existence of trans people, to trying to claim we are predators. I've also seen people downvoted in the general communities for expressing trans support, or seemingly for no reason other than simply being openly trans or visibly queer. I know it's an ongoing effort to moderate transphobia on Lemmy, and the fediverse as a whole. We have to also address mentions of thinly veiled transphobia and transphobic users. Transphobia isn't just a differing opinion, it is a dangerous hateful sentiment which causes harm to vulnerable people and it needs to be addressed, at the instance and community level. We need to put in the effort to identify transphobic dogwhistles and language used by transphobes to eradicate this type of behavior from our communities and servers alike.

Some people will argue that the light stuff isn't something to worry about, but that's not true. This is a tactic they use to blend in with normies and make them think that nothing they are doing or saying is wrong. It's what transphobic right-wing YouTubers and Facebook users do to avoid being banned for hate speech. We are better than these corporations though, Fediverse is run by communities and for the users, we should not let these things slide as easily as Corporations do, they're in it to make money, we... We're in it to create a community for the users. Part of that means kicking out those who don't have all our best interests at heart.
