I'm sure their murderous forefathers who came from Europe and killed and displaced their ways into lands and riches, and their descendants who continued their work, were very moral, empathetic and prosocial people, lol.

This should shut the mouths of all those liberals who spout nonsense about getting rid of Netanyahu and suddenly everything will be fine. Eighty percent of Israeli society is rotten to the core. The government and the genocide it has carried out has been at the will of the people

Yes, it is important to understand how deep this goes. In defense of the actual human beings living in Israel, they're not necessarily irredeemable people any more than the German people were after WW2, but they are all brainwashed by the same zionist megaphone that has corrupted most of the western world's most powerful governments. It's even louder at the source, and it's been going on for a very long time. We need to understand the scope of work involved if we want to do anything about it. Genocide doesn't just happen, it's a process, and properly indoctrinating the majority of the citizenry to support and defend it is step 1.

Very big clarification here and not in defense of Germans who voted for fascism. The German citizenry didn't know that the Holocaust was happening and that's well documented.

Israelis know exactly what's happening. Israeli civilians have blocked aid trucks, openly hold pogroms, brag about it on their socials, politicians have it on their election campaign, and people publicly call for killing of Palestinian children because "they are future terrorists".

This is a very important point. I actually have a leftwing Israeli friend, and he has sent me videos that he's taken from his own balcony where hordes of Israelis are marching through the street chanting "death to Arabs". The quantity of these marches is totally ignored in mainstream media of course.

That's a fair rebuttal but that just means our job is probably even harder, but not that it's any different. It's not like we can, or should just decide the entire population of Israel is irredeemable. What happens then? We start a genocide against them? Maybe some people would like that, but I don't. How is that any better? I acknowledge that it's important to understand where they are coming from and where the support is coming from, and I'm not trying to pretend I have a magic "solution" I'm trying to sell, but our efforts to stop or even recognize this genocide against palestinians haven't gone very far. I appreciate that we're even talking about it. It's a step in the right direction and I absolutely acknowledge so much more needs to be done. I'm afraid it will probably come too late for most palestinians, but all I can do is put my lever against the scales and try to push it, I doubt if I can tip the scales, but at least I'll try.

Nobody said anything about a genocide and I don't know anyone that's asked for it.

Israel needs to be treated like apartheid South Africa, a full embargo until the racist state breaks. When you remove the power dynamics that allow an ethno-supremacist state to exist then it will crumble.

International allies need to continue to be vocal, petition their governments, rally in support of BDS, regular direct action, protests and blockades at ports - these are all happening now and need to continue and grow.

Right, and that sounds perfectly sensible. As I said, I'm not pretending I have any solution to this problem and my goal is not to stand in the way of any reasonable efforts to stop the ongoing genocide. My caution is just to make the point against demonizing the whole people because it's really easy to do in this situation, and whether ethically they deserve it or not, I am certain it's not the answer and it's not going to solve the problem, it will just make it worse.

My concern is that's exactly the kind of attitude that leads to more violence, death, and can ultimately be used to promote genocide, and extermination in retaliation. That's how they justify their genocide against palestinians in the first place, and I am allergic to the kind of thinking that would justify that against anyone. It's an unjustifiable position. People are just people, humans are just humans, individuals can be evil but people are not inherently evil on a mass scale, it's the systems they are placed in, manipulated and controlled by evil and malicious people who have been empowered by those systems, that make them do evil and behave as if they are evil. They're just indoctrinated people, I refuse to dehumanize them, even when they are acting like they deserve it.

It's been reported on for weeks, but the other comment here is trying to downplay the increase in right wing support.

    https://www.aljazeera.com/news-analysis/2026/10/11/how-genocidal-war-on-gaza-is-shaping-israels-election

Analysts also pointed out that several parties running, including ones that are currently in power and a number that are challenging the current coalition, all advocate for the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza, as one of the examples of the shift to the right.

I was fine with Jews needing a homeland where they could posse up and protect themselves, but that shit got out of control decade over decade. It's like they're implementing some sort of final solution or something.

They have a homeland, it's called Poland/Ukraine/Germany/France... I understand that the white man will go full Hitler even with their own but that's their problem, and certainly not something that should be paid with (actual) Semite blood.

  • Like Apartheid South Africa before it, the current system is.

A secular nation not based on discrimination and a total lack of restraint when it comes to enforcement of said discrimination, though, IS possible as long as we start treating them like we treated Apartheid South Africa in the 90s.

My mom and most of my friends' parents refused to buy gas at Shell stations during the final decade or so and for several years after that because they kept doing business with SA after the rest of the world boycotted them. That wasn't a radical position, that was the NORM here in the 90s.

I'm not saying that it's gonna be quick or easy, but the world HAS to go back to encouraging such behavior towards Apartheid ethnostates rather than outlawing it, or we might not be worth saving after all..

A survey by the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth shows more than 16 percent of new voters plan to cast their ballot for far-right parties.

"More than 16 percent" is almost always "less than 17 percent" as well, because if not they'd have said "more than 17 percent" to begin with...

Which is a good thing, because the entire rest of the article is making it seem like the prevailing political stance

I don't know if you're trying to downplay the increase in rightwing-ism.

You're referencing one of the many polls that are mentioned in the article, and it's definitely worth noting that "far-right" means the likes of ben-gvir. How many would vote for the "right" like Smotrich and Bibi?

Poll shows some three quarters of Jewish first-time voters identify as right or centre-right, higher than the rest of Israeli society.

The Israeli Central Elections Committee says more than half a million voters were added to the roll since the last elections in 2022. They are aged between 18 and 22 and polls show that 80 percent of them plan to vote

Around three quarters of Jewish first-time voters polled identified as “right or centre-right”, according to a recent poll for Israel’s Channel 12.

Considering that nearly everyone in Israel's elections (even the "left of center") advocate for genocide; I don't think it's wise to dismiss the findings that the majority are voting for the right (i.e. all out genocide, expulsions, pogroms).

On Palestinian statehood, Golan has declared that “My vision is two states for two peoples.” In Judea and Samaria, the Democrats oppose annexation, seek expanded security coordination with the Palestinian Authority and pledge to dismantle illegal or newly approved outposts. Golan said in an interview in August that his long-term vision for separation from the Palestinians would require the eviction of as many as 100,000 Israelis from their homes.

The party’s domestic agenda is similarly far-reaching. It proposes reversing the government’s judicial-reform legislation, including changes to judicial appointments, and amending the Nation-State Basic Law. It would enshrine additional civil and social rights, limit prime ministers to eight years in office and bar indicted ministers from serving.

The Democrats’ approach to freedom of speech has provoked particular controversy. Golan has personally threatened the pro-Netanyahu broadcaster Channel 14 with closure. “Channel 14 will have to return to journalistic ethics—or close,” he said in September. The Israel Press Council condemned his earlier closure threat as antidemocratic and harmful to freedom of expression. Golan has also advocated closing the Bnei David pre-military academy in Eli, accusing the institution of promoting extremist nationalist views. This statement led to further condemnations from coalition and opposition parties alike in the face of Bnei David’s training of thousands of IDF combat soldiers and officers, with dozens of its graduates killed in action since Oct. 7, 2023.

On religion and state, the Democrats seek civil marriage and divorce, recognition of non-Orthodox conversions, an end to the Chief Rabbinate’s monopoly over kosher certification, and public transportation on Shabbat, with local discretion over services. They also advocate equal marriage, adoption and surrogacy rights for same-sex couples.

The party further proposes universal military or civilian service, with the IDF receiving first priority in selecting recruits, withdrawal of benefits from draft evaders and ending special funding arrangements for Haredi school networks that fail to teach core subjects.

I don't know what you're trying to whitewash here because the article and post is about the Israeli population veering further extreme right and has been for several decades (as reported by Israeli polls).

There were communist parties running against Hitler during the elections in 1933. Doesn't change the fact that Germans voted for fascism that led to genocide.

Also, it's interesting to highlight Yair Golan. The guy who said that Palestinian statehood is "extremely damaging to Israel".

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/democrats-chair-yair-golan-international-recognition-of-palestine-extremely-damaging-to-israel-at-this-time/

The leader of the left-wing party has long supported a two-state solution, but “not at this time.”

that annexing Gaza and its Palestinian population, as has been floated by the current government, is impossible: “No country in the world is ready, willing, or interested in absorbing two million Palestinians.”

So he supports the 2SS but only on Israel's terms, when Israel wants, under Israeli military security...seems about the same decades long hollow promises from the Liberal Zionist camp that led to this point. His concern isn't about ethnic cleansing, but that it's not realistic.

    You said:

I linked an article about a coalition formed in 2024 that is against the genocide...

    And said:

    There’s options…

It's obvious what kind of argument you keep trying to have, but just because no one is saying what you want, doesn't mean you can just start insisting someone did.

No one is defending Israel here, you're gonna have to go to Facebook, twitter, or reddit to find that

I dunno. Your initial comment seemed to be misunderstanding or misconstruing (or at worst dismissive) the data shared in the article, focusing your analysis on one point, making it inaccurate. My response was to highlight that there is more data available.

You then didn't really consider the additional data and instead moved on to a different topic based off a part of my response which was to mention an Israeli politician (considered left). That part of my response was to show that the Left vs Right paradigm as we know it doesn't apply to Israeli politics when their center-left also advocate for genocide (which makes the fact that more Israelis identify with being right-wing all the more concerning, since even the center-left advocate for genocide).

It was a terse response because the only interaction we've had is one where you seem to have misconstrued information and then been deflective/changed topic to something unrelated (considering that Yair Golan is not "anti-genocide" as referenced by prior points, he doesn't even have a seat in parliament). So I'm not quite sure what you're getting at.

This section of Israeli youth with these attitudes are a result of poisonous upbringing. They represent the tip of the iceberg. When one youth is a nasty piece of shit, then we can safely the say his siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins are the same
