I dont think its even possible. Those franchises took off when the US was a monoculture. Not only would creating the conditions necessary for something new to become truly uniquitous be impossible within our lifetime, it would also be monstrous to do.

It would be nice. I'm working on a project to revitalise what I feel has been lacking, in terms of British cinema, however I'm in over my head sometimes. It is a nice thought, to create something iconic like the media of yesteryear, and hopefully more people have this in mind (than the regurgitated same old films rehashed every year).
